Located on Saariniemi Estate's private peninsula on Lake Vanttausjärvi, just 55 km from Rovaniemi, Aurora Cottage Otsola offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by Arctic nature.

From the cottage windows, the lake stretches directly before you. From late August until spring, guests may be fortunate enough to witness the Northern Lights dancing above the shoreline on clear nights. Whether viewed from the yard, beside the campfire, or from the warmth of the cottage, the experience is unforgettable.

Designed for those who appreciate privacy, simplicity, and a close connection with nature, Aurora Cottage Otsola offers an authentic Finnish lakeside experience in every season.

The Cottage

The 23 m² cottage includes:

  • Fireplace
  • Dining area
  • Small kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave and two hot plates)
  • Smart TV and Wi-Fi
  • Double bed that can also be arranged as twin beds

Please note that there is no running water or shower in the cottage. Fresh drinking and washing water are provided, and a heated composting eco-toilet is located next to the cabin.

Sauna & Lakeside Living

A traditional wood-heated lakeside sauna and Finnish campfire shelter (laavu) are located by the shore, offering a genuine Finnish cottage experience.

In winter, step directly from the sauna into the snow beneath the Arctic sky. During summer, enjoy swimming in the lake and the soft light of northern evenings.

We will provide guidance on heating both the sauna and the cottage fireplace to ensure a comfortable stay.

Winter Activities

Snowshoeing and traditional forest skiing begin directly from the cottage doorstep. The frozen lake and surrounding forests provide a peaceful setting for independent outdoor adventures.

Fishing equipment, snowshoes, and forest skis are available for rent.

Practical Information

Check-in from 4:00 PM

Check-out by 11:00 AM

During your stay, dishes are collected and returned clean for your convenience.

Due to the estate's own animals, pets are not permitted.
