The Barn Chapel at Saariniemi Estate
A Place of Peace and Meaning
In the heart of Saariniemi Estate stands a historic hay barn that has been carefully restored into a unique Barn Chapel, preserving the spirit, craftsmanship and heritage of generations past.
The Barn Chapel is part of the ongoing restoration of Saariniemi Estate, a family-led heritage project recognised with national awards for preserving Finnish cultural heritage.
The Barn Chapel is an ecumenical space, open to both religious and non-religious gatherings. It offers an intimate and timeless setting for:
- Wedding ceremonies, blessings and vows
- Small concerts and musical moments
- Storytelling evenings and community gatherings
- Quiet reflection, meditation and inner journeys
Natural light filters through the wooden boards, candlelight reflects softly from the walls, and the silence of the surrounding fields creates a space where time seems to pause.
The icons are hand-painted, and the chapel's rya textile and rugs have been handcrafted by the women of our family, continuing traditions that have been passed down through generations.
Events in the Barn Chapel can also be combined with accommodation at Saariniemi Estate and dining in the heritage log house, creating a setting where celebration and peace meet.
Welcome to discover a place where time slows down and tradition still lives.
