Aurora Cottage Matilda is located on Saariniemi Estate's private peninsula on the northern shore of Lake Vanttausjärvi, just 55 km from Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland. Surrounded by nature and with its own lakeside setting, the cottage offers privacy, comfort, and beautiful views throughout the year.
Large windows face directly towards the lake, bringing the surrounding landscape into the living space in every season. From late August until spring, guests may be fortunate enough to witness the Northern Lights from the cottage or the yard on clear nights.

Lakeside Surroundings
Outside, a traditional Finnish lean-to shelter (laavu) offers a cosy place to gather around the fire while enjoying views across the lake.
In summer, guests can swim in the lake and enjoy the endless light of northern evenings. In winter, the landscape transforms into a peaceful snowy wonderland.
Winter at Matilda
Snowshoeing and traditional forest skiing begin directly from the cottage doorstep. The frozen lake and surrounding forests provide a tranquil setting for independent outdoor adventures.
On clear nights, the Northern Lights may even be visible through the cottage's large windows.
