Aurora Cottage Matilda

Aurora Cottage Matilda is located on Saariniemi Estate´s private peninsula, on the northern shore of lake Vanttausjärvi, 55 km from Rovaniemi. The cottage's private lake shore offers a peaceful location surrounded by nature.

The 30 m² cottage combines modern comfort with open lake views. Large windows face directly toward the lake, bringing the scenery into the living space throughout all seasons. The northern shore location provides excellent opportunities to watch the Northern Lights directly from the cottage or the yard.

The cottage is ideal for couples, small families, or two friends who value privacy and proximity to the lake.

Lakeside Surroundings and Lean-to Shelter

Outside, there is a traditional Finnish lean-to shelter where you can spend time by the fire while enjoying the lake view. In summer, you can swim in the lake, and in winter the landscape transforms into a peaceful snowy scenery.

Winter at Matilda

In winter, you can head directly from the cottage for snowshoeing or forest skiing. The frozen lake and surrounding forest offer a tranquil setting for self-guided excursions in Arctic nature. On clear nights, the Northern Lights are often visible directly through the cottage's large windows.

Snowshoes, forest skis, and fishing equipment are available for rent.
